Which bike is right for me?

When choosing a new bicycle you should ask yourself a few questions. Where do I plan on riding the majority of the time? How long and how far do I think I will ride most of the time? What type of bike do the other cyclists I may ride with have? After you have answered these basic questions, its time to visit an independent bicycle dealer.

The salesperson will ask you these same questions and some others. Then they will pick out some bicycle models in the appropriate size for you to test ride. The salesperson will then explain how to operate the bicycle and make some minor fit adjustments to it before you ride it. Its a good idea to bring your helmet and to wear clothes and shoes similar to those you will cycle in. We have helmets to lend you at Bash Bish Bicycle.

Take your time when test riding and make sure you like the way the bike feels and operates. Let the salesperson know of any objections you may have. Minor adjustments to the saddle, handlebar, or components can make a big difference in how the bike feels and operates.

Its also a good idea to have a budjet in mind when you visit the store. Bicycle manufactures make a number of models at different price points. Higher priced bikes in general have higher quality components installed. Components are parts such as the shifters, brakes, and wheels. Higher priced bikes may also have a lighter frame which is just as durable or more durable than the lower priced bike's. Unless you have accessories that are serviceable from a previous bike, you will probably need some new ones. You may need a new helmet, a bag, or a pump so figure some extra money into your budjet for these items.
